MassKara Festival 2026 runs from October 1 to 18, bringing concerts, street dancing, competitions, food, community events, and plenty of reasons to spend more time outside.
This year marks the 47th MassKara Festival, carrying the theme “Share the Smile. Celebrate Gugma.”
And while the festival officially starts on October 1, things really pick up as the month moves along, with the biggest weekend happening October 16 to 18.
Here’s what’s happening around Bacolod and what you might want to put on your calendar.
When is MassKara Festival 2026?

October 18

The winners will be recognized at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
Meanwhile, Electric MassKara moves to The Upper East on October 16, giving the Friday night celebration its own space before the big dance competitions take over the weekend.

MassKara isn’t just about street dancing
There’s a lot more happening around the city.
PetsKara
Scheduled for October 10 at Robinsons Bacolod.
Super KidsKara
October 11 at the Bacolod City Government Center.
PuWeDe G! 2.0
October 7, with activities for persons with disabilities and the SPED community.
Other activities throughout the festival put the spotlight on women, artists, senior citizens, drivers and TODAs, families, youth, and other community groups.
In other words, you don’t have to be standing along a street dance route to be part of MassKara.
Where is MassKara happening?
MassKara doesn’t happen in just one place.
You’ll find events spread across Bacolod, including:
Bacolod City Government Center
The BCGC will host concerts, competitions, and community activities throughout the festival.
Bacolod Public Plaza
The Plaza remains one of the city’s main festival gathering points, with performances, activities, and awarding ceremonies.
SM City Bacolod and the Reclamation Area
This is where you’ll want to be for the October 17 and 18 street dance and arena competitions.
The Upper East
The Upper East takes center stage for nightlife and entertainment, including Electric MassKara on October 16.
Lacson Tourism Strip
The Lacson Tourism Strip will also have festival activities from October 16 to 18, adding another major area for food, entertainment, and nightlife during the peak weekend.
And yes, expect traffic
If you’re driving around Bacolod during MassKara, expect things to take longer than usual.
Proposed traffic measures include road closures and changes around the Public Plaza, BCGC, SM City Bacolod, and routes connected to Electric MassKara and the street dance competitions.
For the October 16–18 weekend, some festival operations are expected to continue into the early morning.
Driving to MassKara?
Traffic plans were still subject to final approval as of September 26, so check the latest traffic advisories before heading out, especially if you’re driving.
Come hungry
Let’s be honest. You can’t spend MassKara in Bacolod without eating.
Chicken inasal is an obvious stop, but there’s plenty more to explore around the city, from kansi and seafood to piaya, pastries, cakes, and other Negrense favorites.
Food kiosks open October 1
You don’t have to wait for the big weekend to start eating your way through the festival.
Planning your MassKara weekend?
If you’re coming specifically for the major events, October 16–18 is the weekend to mark on your calendar.
But if massive crowds aren’t really your thing, consider coming earlier.
The first half of the festival has pageants, community activities, competitions, art programs, and smaller events happening around the city. It’s still MassKara, just without quite as much of the weekend madness.
And if you’re heading out for the street dancing, come prepared.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Bring water.
Keep your phone charged.
Give yourself extra travel time.
And if you’re carrying a camera, remember to put it down every once in a while.
You’re in Bacolod.
You might as well watch the show.
